New permit bays in Ashdown Drive, Boreham Holt and Drayton Road, and new yellow lines in three more Borehamwood roads. Comments close on 15 October; permits from £40.

Six Borehamwood roads are in line for parking changes. Hertsmere Borough Council has published plans for more resident permit bays in three of them and new yellow lines in the other three. Residents have until Thursday 15 October to comment.

The council’s notice of proposal, dated 24 September, says the changes are needed to cut inappropriate and inconsiderate parking. It also says they would give residents and visitors more places to park, improve visibility at junctions and reduce congestion.

What is proposed, road by road

The council has published a map for each road. This is what each one shows.

Road Change Hours
Ashdown Drive New resident and visitor permit bays. The map is titled “Removal of Disabled Bay” Mon to Fri, 2pm to 3pm
Boreham Holt Additional resident permit bays Mon to Fri, 2pm to 3pm
Drayton Road New resident permit bays Mon to Sat, 8am to 6.30pm
Broughinge Road New single yellow lines to protect driveway access Mon to Sat, 8am to 6.30pm
Croxdale Road New single yellow lines to protect access Mon to Sat, 11am to noon
Lexington Close New single yellow lines to protect driveway access Mon to Fri, 2pm to 3pm

The hours match the existing controls in each road. Ashdown Drive, Boreham Holt and Lexington Close already have a one-hour weekday restriction. Drayton Road and Broughinge Road already run Monday to Saturday, 8am to 6.30pm.

What it means for you

  • If you live in one of these roads, check the map for your stretch. A new bay or a new yellow line outside your house changes where you, your visitors and your trades can park.
  • If you park there but do not live there, the permit bays and yellow lines would apply to you too during the hours shown.
  • The council says it has already consulted residents, local and county councillors, the highway authority and the police before drawing up the plans. This is the formal stage, and the last chance to object before the order is made.
  • No start date has been set. The draft order leaves the date blank.

Radlett residents have a separate consultation open. The council is reviewing the village’s controlled parking zone, with comments due by 30 October.
